Lessons on copyright (rant)

I think some people need a lesson on what copyright means.

When you steal a video from someone else's site, it doesn't mean you own it and can copyright it.

I am finding more and more people doing this and it is pissing me off. Luckily this can be resolved very quickly by passing this information on to Clickcash and let them deal with your ass.

This person either stole the video from my members area, which would mean they created a new clickcash account to get access, or they stole the video from someone else who had access to my site. They not only steal it and use it with their own clickcash account so I do not get any credit but they brand the video like they own it.

I hope the person who owns this site is on GFY and known here by others. What they are doing is a shitty way to do business.

Thats not a bad idea for a promotional tool, too bad that girl is dumb as a brick and reading off the screen, but none the less.

There are several page rippers that post on gfy. Most of them also spam yahoo and the likes and have a fake address in NV or CA. Just bait them with some copyrighted material and skip the C&D. Straight to a copyright lawsuit where you will probably get 3 years of income if they want to ride it out without settling.

I dont know where the page was being advertised. I get a lot of emails from other webmasters I am friends with and the chathost themselves. This page was found by the chathost and she brought it to my attention.

The video was made by that model exclusivly for my site. I give everyone a limited license to use my content/promos as long as the chathost is cool with it and they are using the clickcash account they signed up through me.

Pretty simple requirments, amazing how people can't be ethical and honor those simple requests.

I try to make it easy for people, i make it for them and tell them to use it. But why can't they use the clickcash account they referred me with?

thanks. yes it will be taken care of. I told the model to hold off on reporting the guy, I would give him a chance to come forward and fix it. If he doesn't his account will be bye bye.

i've learned alot about copyright recently - you can't get much out of anybody who steals your content unless you register it here http://www.copyright.gov - once you've done that and it's only 30 bucks to register copyright - then you can collect the big money - provided the person you're suing has money. without registering your copyright in Washington you're entitled to get only what damage you can prove the infringement has done to your business - and that's not easy to quantify and you won't get all that much.

what is your site will? amazingwebcams?

I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

my site is teamclickcash.com The chathost didn't like the fact that this person was laying claim to her images. That video was produced for my website and for my members to use. The person using it is not one of my members and does not have my permission to use the video either.

Yup. good advice. We copyrighted all of our content and even recieved a trademark for BrandiLove and DirtyDaisy
