Back in the late 1890's, a man by the name of Richard Canfield ran a gambling establishment in Saratoga, NY. It was not entirely legitimate, and law enforcement sort of looked the other way. Canfield did offer the game. The player bought a deck of cards for $52, and received $5 for every card which could be played on the Aces.

No doubt the rumors of solitaire in Vegas persist because of software versions of solitaire offering "Vegas Style Solitaire." Hope this helps."..
