Very close to my mum. I just bought her house off her actually.
My dad, yes I can tell him anything (Apart from my job) but he lives around 40 miles away from me so I don't see him very much. He works a lot and has another family as well.
My father is my best friend: hands down. I am still extremely close to my parents and see that at least once a week. They are wonderful and I love them a lot.
I do whatever I can to make their lives happy now because they sacraficed a lot to get me to where I am today.

Close to my parents yes. My Dad was cool, being a basektball coach. Most people think "oh that must suck since you were a girl and he wanted to go shoot hoops with the boy". That just wasn't the case. My brother and I both played ball.
We shot hoops until I graduated high school and went to games together and everything. He's a great Dad. Couldn't ask for any better. We still go to games together sometimes. And I still play ball :-)
My dad was my best friend as well. He died this past July. Missing him sucks but my family hangs tough for my mother.
If you arent close to your parents at least try to make an effort.
Sorry to hear that. My mother died at a very young age, infact, today is the 23rd anniversary of her death. You are right, making an effort counts, I don't know where my dad (or us kids) would be if it weren't for family.

What he said...
Whenever I run across difficulties and challenges I always think back to the challenges my folks faced and it just steels my resolve. I always keep in mind that whatever I achieve in my life happens because of the sacrifices and hard work of my parents--I just build on the foundations they laid for me, a good upbringing, an education, a work ethic, and a value system. I can't thank them enough for that.

Couldn't agree more - I live 1500km from my parents - A few weeks back Mum got ill and I decided to move back to help out my old man - My Mum, unfortunately passed away unexpectedly last week - Coming back and being able to spend some precious time with her means more to me than anything else -
Both my parents knew what I do for a living and I got full support from them - I feel guilty as hell for living so far away for so many years and not being there to spend more time with them both - I will certainly live much closer to my Dad from now on -
You only ever have one set of parents - Don't let them die before you realise their true value to you.
My parents are getting a divorce after 33 years of marriage and that is breaking up the family, but I guess that?s what will make them happy. I am close to both of them and try my best to give back for the great life they have provided me with..
I was very close to my grandmother who raised me from the time I was 2 months old. My mother had visitation rights and I hate her. She doesn't deserve to breathe the same air that George Bush breathes, never mind the air that I breathe. She's a drug addicted, alcoholic, violent and overbearing egomaniac who needs to spend a few years at hard labor before being summarily bled to death by way of paper cuts and rubbing alcohol.
But the important thing is that I'm not bitter.

I love both of my parents tons! However, I wish I was a bit closer with my mother. A lot of strain occured during my youth as I was primarily raised by my paternal grand mother.
My father are closer to the very good friend level that I would not give up for the world.
One of my goals for this year is to get closer to my mother.
L'Chaim: interj.Pronunciation Key (la khi yem) - Literally "To Life." Used as a toast.
I have had my share of worst times with my parents, back during my rebelious teen years. Now I have learned to understand them better. I still get to see them on special occassions
