It has to completely curl up in a ball and die before I change it for a desktop. I had one I kept moving and moving and someone used it and pointed out approximately 10 of the keys were worn out so you couldn't tell what they were.
With laptops, I replace when I spill something and fry it, or get a new laptop.
But I still have all my old desktop keyboards. I have no idea why I'm saving them, but they still work
