I haven't heard any mention of the incident in the mainstream or industry press yet. As word spreads, I'm sure monetary support will increase.

With regards to the health insurance issue, this serves as a cautionary lesson for performers and others in the adult industry. It's easy to mock the uninsured when your health care is covered by a corporation, but there are literally millions of uninsured people in this country, many of them small business owners or independent contractors.

My health insurance is covered through the mainstream business that I own, however I recently learned through the AIM Foundation web site (http://www.aim-med.org) that a non-profit industry health insurance organization has come into existence, which might be of benefit to freelance entertainers and others in the adult biz.

It's called NAICE - the National Association of Independent Contractors and Entertainers.

Given that I already am insured, and I don't know much about this organization firsthand, please research it yourself. I am simply offering it as a possible option for adult industry people. I'm sure there are many industry people whom are uninsured.

If someone knows more about NAICE, it may be worthwhile (and timely) to post a thread about it. Adult companies, if they don't provide health coverage, might want to consider making their talent aware of the program.

Excuse me my insurance is paid for by me when we started and money was tight . We gave up going out and cut back on bs to have insurance. It is a shame this happened to her and she may wake up from her coma and be pissed off at Adam for asking for money but this is a girl who makes a good living there is no excuse for her not to have coverage. I think everyone has their own personal limits on what they will give and what they will receive. I rembember when Pattyecake had surgergy, KK seems to break a bone a month and with the loss of my son we could have easily won the sympathy lottery. Maybe because we older chicks we learned to be prepared for shitty things, but we were fine with no over donations (I mean no "oververt" donations because emotional from business friends, flowers and anything I needed form the WTS, WEG flying Gabe and T down for the services and Sweet T taking care of all kinds of shit were more than appreciated.).

Sometimes a big hug or a camera phone SMS pics of flowers fits the case.

Hopefully more info will come out and we can her fixed up, healed and her bills payed. Head injuries are a long way to go

The former Playboy Producer just called back and said that he contacted Nikki's "Night Calls 411" Co-Star Crystal Knight who had been in contact with Nikki a number of times mid-week about coordinating a shoot they were both going to do; Crystal called some direct numbers she had for Nikki, as well as for some of her and Nikki's friends, and determined that Nikki did have the accident and is in a medically induced coma to keep her still, instead of physically thrashing around.

Again, I pray she fully recovers.

A blow to the head causes brain damage in two stages.

Doctors can monitor pressure in the skull with a special sensor.
If and when the brain-swelling begins to subside, they can turn off the pentobarbital and gradually bring the patient out of the coma.
Since the anesthetic lingers in the body for several days, "waking up" takes awhile.

Though induced comas have been used for decades, it's not clear how well they work (and there are some risks).
We know they can reduce the severity of swelling, but no study has ever shown that patients turn out better for having had the procedure.
More recently, some clinicians have tried to induce comas in patients whose brain damage doesn't come from a head injury.
A girl in Wisconsin was put in a coma after contracting rabies, and just last week the heir to the Fiat automobile fortune awoke from an induced coma following a drug overdose.


That is terrible! I don't really know Nikki personally...met her once at AVN a few years ago...I have worked for alot of the same people and feel as if I kind of know her. Funny own a car or house and insurance is required, yet health insurance isn't. I believe more members here would have reacted differently if OP just said that Nikki had a major accident without saying she didn't have medical insurance. I am sure this thread would have taken another direction.
