Todays tally:

A total of 40 vehicles, including two buses, were torched before midnight in nine towns in the Seine-Saint-Denis department, a high-unemployment largely-immigrant department, according to local police who made 15 arrests.

Maybe the French goverment can go to the United Nations and get a resolution to make the rioters stop. That should teach those hoodlums a lesson!

I am anti-goverment of any type. And I don't pretend to know what is or isn't a "good" form of goverment. If you ask me, all goverments are just dictatorships that abuse and exploit it's people. For that matter of fact, I believe all citizenship is slavery in its worst form and serf-dom at its best. Freedom is a lie!
You know I live just blocks away from fighting. No I admit I'm not in a slum but I'm not in wealthy area either. I have eyes and the problem is just plain prejudice.

I'm sorry and I don't mean to sound intolerate. But France and French society is one of the most prejudice filled societies I have ever been in. Shit in France you get ostracized if you speak french with an different accent. This is especially so in Paris.

I get treated still occaisionally get treated with that "cold alof-ness" until they get told I'm Quebecoise. And still I have to explain that the Paspebiac is very far from Montreal and I speak just a little bit different than Montrealers. Still many don't even bother to listen to my explanation. They insult me by changing to english. I fuck them up by changing to Mi'kmaq and they saying their english is terrible. (Mi'kmaq is a native North American language)

The problems will stop when you allow these people to do the following:

1) Easily get a bank account. Believe it or not, unless you were born here. Getting an account is a bitch. TRUST ME.

2) Let them start business. It's pathetic but some guy with a shopping cart and tin can filled with charcoal attempting to sell roasted corn on the cob risks being arrested. AND IT ISN'T A SMALL FINE. 30-60 days is what he gets plus a hefty fine.

The business registration process is lengthy and expensive. And so convoluted that it requires a lawyer or specialist. (We have money and my husband just said, "Fuck it." And registered his business in Italy.)

3) Make renting an apartment easy. Most of these people are their because they have no choice. In the rest of the civilized world you can get an apartment with 1 month security deposit. NOT 3 or 4 months security plus your first month's rent.

I don't want to make this long but let me break that down for you in math.

Average cost to rent a bachelor/studio apartment in Paris. (< 20m sq)

Rent:--------------800 to 1,100 euro.------ 600 euro
Security deposit: 2,400 to 3,300 euro.-----1,800 euro
Agency fee:--------800 to 1,100 euro 600 euro

Total to move in: 4,000 to 5,500 euro-----3,000 euro

Wow!!! AMAZING!!
And you wonder why they are all stacked 10 deep to an apartment and living in shit holes.

How many on here have that kind of money in their banks right now? (After credit card debts are paid off)

And remember they can't get a bank account without jumping through hoops.

Well they also could of stopped the rioting by not importanting poorly educated, and vastly culturally different people to France. I don't understand the down side to this? The reason prices are like you say is because France is already overcrowded, but for some reason immigration is an untouchable topic. Insane.

Oh I just realised the downside, than France would remain French - we can't have that happening.

Right now it's the French Blacks that are the majority of the rioting. And by "French Blacks" I am referring to the fact that they came from places that were colonized by the French.

IE: Their maternal language is FRENCH. They came from French speaking countries.

But on that note...
What people don't appear to understand is that France has a history of abusing the lower classes.

What is happening now is the same damn thing that triggered the French Revolution. The only difference is that this time the peasant classes are visiable minorities.

Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy is acting like Napolean and wants to give the rioters "A whiff of grapeshot."

And

French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin is acting like Marie Antoinette by calling these people scum.

The bourgeois are completely ignorant of the issues and prefer to pretend nothing is wrong. In fact the common held attitude amoungst the bourgeois is "that the peasants should eat cake."


It's a sad day when Chirac is the voice of reason.

That to me looks like a very clear dodge of the point I was brining up. The fact that they speak French is irrelevant. My question is, it is clear they are not an economic benefit to France (20%+ unemployment rate), they are clearly not intergrating, most French people don't want them there (you admit this yourself), so why do they keep bringing them? It seems totally ludacris to me.

And in every other civilized country you are allowed to keep your beliefs, accent, customs, clothing style, etc. Intergration in France means to be exactly the same.

If this was occuring in the United States... A thousand human rights and poverty groups would be all over the goverment.

I'm not trying to start any fights. I admit I'm part of several activist groups and most of my friends tend to be similar to me. Some more extreme than others but you get my point.

All in all... perhaps this is the most "French" thing I do in my life. Debate, talk, shake an angry fist. But it is difficult not to be when all this is occuring within a 10 min walk of your home.

I'm probably not going to change anything but I don't know... If it is any consolation, I go after any and all social injustice.

Well keep up the good work anyway. With all this far-leftwing bias around this event on the news blaming it on the French people, and not these scum (oh I'm sorry did I call people who light cars on fire and attack people violently scum?) Le Pen should get record high results next election. I think it is almost a guarantee nationalist parties are going to take control of countries such as Austria, Belgium and perhaps France in next 20 years or so thanks to this kind of lunacy.
