Believe me, I know what they are going through, we only got water pressure back a couple of days ago and it may be another week to get electric. I'm getting internet by driving in my car, and finding the little areas with power and an open network. (thank god for power inverters!).

for those of you who believe you KNOW EVERYTHING about emergency preparedenss and want to make this a negative thread....THINK AGAIN! i spent 35+ years in new news media and over half of that, as well, in emeregency management and emergency services. i still work with our local eoc (emergency operations center) on a REGULAR basis, plus i have been an amateur (ham) radio operator most of my life, dealing with international emergencies. NOBODY can be totally prepared for an emergency. things happen. kre's broken foot was a related injury (it happens). money doesn't grow on trees, either. who in the f*ck do some of you people think you are? all i did was come here and try to get help for some fellow webmasters, who happen to be MY FRIENDS!

I am in South Florida, with no power, and a generator. I took 3 grand out of the bank before this, had contingency plans if I needed more money.

I feel for them going through this, but going with what pleasurepays said earlier, one could have planned for this as best as possible.
