I'm moving to China for several months, is it safe enough to work from there?

I have nothing connected with China (no websites registered for my address in China, no Chinese traffic, not going to cash cheques in China), just going to use their internet connection...

what do you think?

bad idea, very bad idea.
Most of the traffic in china is filtered through there isp's. They will find you in a jiffy. Lots of sites are unreachable from there. GFY can not been seen in china.

A friend of mine was there for 1 year, to study. He is also working in adult and tried several ways to make adult sites work, but he gave up after 1-2 months. Its really not easy.

Here is some advice I was given when there was a plan for me to move to the United Arab Emirates earlier on this year.

"build an ssh tunnel(with real IP address) using your own server from another country and use that connection for browsing and submitting.

Something to look in to.

well, if you are still traveling, they won't really touch you
since you are an American Citizen or Citizen of another Country

China put any Adult Webmasters behind bars for life if that what you want to do, don't think about hiring those people to do adult related work

I mean, they don't execute nobody for this but lifetime jail time is nothing special

for foreigners, there is no issue but guys on this thread mention a good point
they do monitor the traffic and some sites may be reachable

but for fast connection, hmmmmm... good luck depending where you are going
not all cities have ADSLs for rent...they have ISP Cards..its like calling cards, you pay a card on a number of minutes to use

if you need broadband, hmmmm....it might be more difficult since you need a DSL modem....... I won't go to some expensive hotels and use their connection, and you are very protected in an expensive hotel for an foreign

travelling and using their internet connection won't cause any trouble
just don't stay there and operate your sites like a resident and you are fine

they do not touch Citizens of Other Country that easier.....its political incorrect... you are just travelling ...unless you have something else in your mind

You REALLY need to rethink this. They can and will jail you (12 years+) just for being a webmaster. They have done this several times to people already this year.

I didn't actually go in the end I turned the contract down. I just did some digging about when the contract was offered and I came up with the Emirates run ISP and how everything was run through them. I even tried accessing all the sites I would have needed through a few UAE proxies I found and they were all blocked. GFY included.

So your saying you can access all the porn you want from there no problem? What ISP are you signed up to?

A few years ago we used to get a load of signups from both locals and ex-pats in the U.A.E. then when they started blocking everything that put an end to that.
