there should be a mechanism in place to draft people from poor communities and those who have no other way of affording an education than to join the military there could even be propaganda tv ads around the clock, what else might work is to have recruiting agents who call people at home and try to talk them into joining the military, and persisting for weeks

No, only because I feel that the people that should be defending us and making the intellectually sound decisions overseas should at the very LEAST have a 12th grade level education. I know that statement does not apply to ALL of those that drop out, but for the majority I would say it does.

I think everyone should serve at least two years in the military. I think it would do a world of good for society in general.

As liberal as I see myself, sometime I really agree with this. A little basic training and discipline would go a long way to whipping some of these spoiled little shits we have these days into shape.

I think they should draft the guy down the street from me with the hot wife. It would really help me out and make me much more patriotic.

Start off with drafting all the little tfuu guy gangbangers. Watch them piss themselves the frist time a bullet snaps by their head.

The go with the people on death row. if they survive, give them a pardon.

The only draft I support is with violent prison inmates. If they want to kill... let them.

A friend of mine, who has friends in Buffalo, claims that exactly this is going on. Part of what prompted my post.

Schools are required, under threat of lose of funding, to provide names and contact info. The recruiters visit the kinds when the parents are still at work.

It seemed to me that a draft would be a bit more honest.

As a example to the "poor communities" - it would be nice to see Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney ad nausea deliver up their offspring to lead from the front.
