Think I said this before but will post one last time... Teh site is somethign thats happening anyways... the company is a saterlite company and they uterlise a lot of their content into mobile media sales... things like wallpapers and premium rate numbers...

The site originally was loaded with links to these mobile media sales... I have spoke to them about creating a clean version for 3rd party billing and affilaite sales... they like this idea...

So this idea is really a bolt on, they are doing it regardless what comes in from online sales... its just a bonus if its successful... They have already agreed a deal with a UK lads mag "Nuts" which will see 2 to 8 pages per week coverage of whats going on in the CandyCrib...

They're more hooked on it than we are...

but still, it will be a tough business model to make work

How about guerrilla marketing in the U.K. markets?
Such as buying simple classified ads in UK publications, teaser ads, hanging up flyers in UK neighborhoods, etc.

Yahoo and google aren't the only places to advertise.

4k.. Ok.. theres your bandwidth.. I assume the girls are working for free? or are they making an average wage of around 50k a year ~$1k a week? thats $4k x 8 = $32k/mo
You're not drawing a wage are you? or anyone else working on it? what about the person that has to take care of all the crap? manage a roster of girls..do the shopping etc..
is that 4k x X? 1 or 2? or are you the only person working on this besides their company? just 4k a month for you? How do they value their programmers not working on their other projects.. what are the costs of diverting their time onto this?

So the back of the napkin talliy is at about 44k/mo. Literally TEN TIMES what you are taking into account. Or is everyone working for free? Is a landlord paying you guys to use his flat?

That is why most of these sites don't work. not many companies like sustaining a near 50k/mo bleed till things turn around.. which they usually don't especially when run by people that don't have 5 years in the industry.

I wish I could take a cut of the money about to be wasted to stop it from going ahead.. like loss insurance: "sorry guys.. if you run it for 6 months you'll lose 300k plus start up costs of at least 50k. - give me 200k for stopping you from losing 300-400k and in 6 months you'll have 100-200k more money"

Even with magazine exposure for a month or two (at what cost?) It's going to take a lot more to put it in the black. Seriously.. stop talking 100 sign ups a day to your backers... or at least let them know they'll be lucky to hit 10-20/day for the first few months.

Come back in 6 months and let us know how it went.. you can laugh at us with your "success" if you want... but frankly i doubt whether we'll get the chance to say "i told you so" as you'll probably lay low.

My all time record is 78 sales in one day made back in 2000. That was for a teen site with banned words. Models 18+ lisenced 100% legal, but we used questionable words that are now banned. Back then it was acceptable as long as your content was legal. That was with an avs making $15 a signup with a gallery of 250 pics, and only spamming newsgroups. My operating expenses was $20 a month for news server, and a free host. Ahhh those were the days

a group of people got together apparently and said "you know... we want you to take control of this project because you are the best man for the job" and he hasn't even given the whole thing more than 2 minutes thought.

btw, you forgot to tally up all the great, high quality content he is going to shoot. of course the "super hot" models will agree to do it for free as will a good photographer. enought content - 8 super hot models. london. videos, photos. thats an easy 50K or more right there. i mean i certainly hope users are not going to open the members area and see nothing more than a few links to a few different cams. even the promo content is going to cost more than 4K.

You guys dont get the fact this isnt a normal project... I have explained it at least once in this thread but again I guess you decided to skip over that bit... one more time just to show how much love I have for ya...

This to the company I am workign for is a bonus... its a bolt on... the site is goign live regardless of how many online sales it makes... amazingly they dont care... and this is why...

They produce saterlitte channels and use them to sell mainly mobile media and premium rate lines... as in guy see's chick on TV calls a number and speaks to her... at the same time same guy can buy her pics as wallpapers for his cell phone... thats what they do and have made millions off it !

Now they had this new idea of the Candy Crib... again with a view to selling mobile media... they have a deal with a UK lads mag (which is costing them nothing) which will see 2 to 8 pages of coverage of whats going on in the CandyCrib... now as far as coverage goes (yes UK only) that is pretty awesome...

They were just going to offer PayPal subscriptions to people who wanted to access a membership... I was brough onboard for other stuff online within the company when they dumped this on my lap on Thursday... and I think it is a wicked idea... and do believe it has huge potential (guess we will all have to see if I am right or wrong on that fact) and sold them on the idea of creating a mirror site whcih is clean and leak free (so no mobile media sales) and one that affilaites can sign up to...

So thats about it really... no extra costs as they were doing it anyways... any sales they make online they are viewing as a bonus... a extra income they hadnt explored... so I dont think I will be laying low... if I get it wrong then I get it wrong... wow someone who can make a mistake, I must be unique... trust me I made them before !

So guys relax, dont stress... I appreciate your input... I actually think some good points have been raised... maybe baby stes are needed... $10 may not bring me 100... maybe they will bring me 15-20... if we do that for three months and the maths adds up then maybe to take it to the next level we will look at dropping $60K in...
