Pretty good summary of the construction of propaganda Barefootsies

OK.. It happens to be Fox News, but the same underlying techniques have been used for decades - the best of them were the Third Reich propaganda dept under Joseph Goebbels (who was arguably the master of propaganda).

Fox is kinda crass and "not so subtle" in comparison to the Goebells techniques - presumably they think they can get off with it and are addressing a more dumbo audience who "need" their thinking done for them. But much of the core techniques were "invented" by Goebells.

What is more than kinda frightening is that this type of blatant propaganda is actually being used as a prime news source in one the world's main democracies. It's pretty much on par with broadcasting in "restricted regime" countries - China et al.

When you compare this network to others we may assume are propaganda - eg AlJazeera - AlJazeera looks like a real news network in comparison and actually is. (AlJazeera actually have a fairly strong crew of real journalists with credentials in comparison to Fox News staff).

Sure is something strange in how Fox News even exists in any country - other than a regime which needs to be controlled. But hell... suppose that is exactly what they are trying to do - control and influence
