If it leads to greater financial stability and his parents are ok with it to help alleviate stress and the financial burden of education i'm all for it. It's his life and its obviously a strategic decision to help better himself. I did pretty much the same thing because it was simply less things to worry about. Now I'm moving into a 400k condo and still going to school because I think and hope I can handle everything. It took time to learn to manage everything and budget my time.
