PS Dunno if it's the same in the US, but in some countries the prosecution tends to do who could be called, "the witness swamp" where they pull trails of "witnesses", where each has little to offer and often totally disconnected to the case.
Example... in the Spector example that could be... Witness 222 is a girl who works in a cafe half a mile from his house who will given evidence she saw what looked like a number of models driving by her cafe to Spector's home *lol*
The idea is keep throwing "witnesses" at the jury till they drown - kinda the same as wheeling cartons of what is assumed to be "evidence" into court, but the cartons contain blank photocopy paper from the stationery room
