You ain't kidding. This is the tip of a very big piece of "organized crime" online. They run the whole gambit: Toolbar installs, spyware, codec, newsgroup spamming, comment spamming, chatroom spamming, server hacks, iframe hacks, mega blackhat SEO (black ski masks too)... Almost every scam or spam I have seen in the last few months leads back to this same group.
They are also some of the most nasty TGP traders, with hitbots, fake clicks, and tons and tons of fake TGPs that are just codec install sites.
They also do "click cleaning", which is getting traffic from shit sources, and then forcing it through a cleaning cycle and popping it out onto the highest price PPC pages possible.
I hesitate to use the "M" word, only because on the Sorpranos they said the mafia doesn't exist.
