    What does it mean?

60 whales die in Australian mass stranding.

Pilot whales, which can grow up to six metres (20 foot) long, frequently beach themselves in a phenomenon that remains a mystery to scientists.

    1) One of them may stray too close to the shore in rough seas. Then the distress signal it sends out attracts other members of the pod.

    2) It might be something to do with the magnetic fields that they use to navigate.

    3) Armageddon?

That's weird. Of course definitely not an armaggedon but why can't scientists explain this phenomenon?

It happens all the time . . . due primarily to the fact that the pods are led by a male whale, and you know how they hate to ask for directions

My simple theory is that they want to get from point A to point B and when a land mass gets in the way they cant reconfigure their compass to go around.

Sometimes a sick/older whale will beach itself to die and the others will follow.. sad. Very sad.

Some have suggested that some noise sources on land attract them... I suppose that until we come up with a whale translation machine, we'll never know.

i don't like seeing and hearing such stories like that..whales nowadays are very extinct and can only be seen in some parts of the world...australia is very lucky to have them in their country...i think that should be solved.
