                                                                                                                                A few years ago I was making enough money for myself and at the same time really bored, so I thought seriously about offering on one of the boards to help a newbie get started. For zero return except the enjoyment I hoped to get out of the challenge of doing it. Thus I can believe Mutt might have got into working with Ashley for the reasons he gave.

                                                                                                                                What stopped me was knowing myself well enough to realize how p*ssed I would get if the person I was helping put less into the project than I expected of him or her. So since Ashley hasn't disputed Mutt's claims that she wasn't making much effort, I can easily sympathize with the frustration he says led to the breakup of their partnership.

                                                                                                                                But to me there is the false note of Mutt apparently owning enough of the content, etc., that when he pulled out, Ashley's site was forced to close. He hasn't denied that was the case and it seems totally at odds with the lack of self-interest he is claiming for his involvement with her site. At the very least it suggests he wanted to control her (site), not simply help.

                                                                                                                                Whatever the truth of motives etc of which we are not aware, neither has acted very professionally in that the dissolution of their partnership - since both have been around to discuss it - could have been achieved without incoveniencing or causing loss to the program's affiliates. One or both of them was obviously more concerned with his or her own pride, principles or whatever, than with the interests of anyone else who was involved.
