Allergies are kicking my ass the last two weeks. That time of year in Norcal and pills aren't helping.
Should I start doing intravenous drugs?

Sac is fucking brutal this time of year. I'm in town visiting the in-laws and my allergies kicked into overdrive the moment i hit town. I broke down and took a claritin and it improved my situation from fucking miserable to moderately miserable. The sac valley just fucking sucks when the wind is up.
To your question about allergy shots...a friend of mine went on them and they really did help.

I have been thinking about going for the shots myself. This time of year my head feels like it is going to explode and my eyeballs feel like they are throbbing... yuck.Comment

Definitely get an allergy shot! I've had them a few times and it was such a relief. The shot lasted through allergy season although spring and summer only last about 4 months in Alaska. I had a nurse practitioner give me a hard time once because she said it can cause osteoperosis if you get them all the time.Comment

1 shot? I thought you had to take a series. I'd go for that in a second.Definitely get an allergy shot! I've had them a few times and it was such a relief. depending on how bad your allergies are i'd get the allergy shots, they'll severely reduce your symptoms if not get rid of your allergies depending on what your allergic to. they do take some time to take effect though it took about 5-6 shots over a few month period before i started to notice any changes. but again depending on what your allergic to will depend on how often you have to go for the shots and how long the shots will effect you without having to go for another shot.
they will test you for everything from dogs and cats to ragweed and mildew atleast then you'll know exactly what your allergic to and you'll be able to determine when your allergy symptoms will be at their peak.
it's worth going for the shots thats for sure after going through almost every allergy medicine as a child from zyrtec to all the claritins, the nasal sprays nothing has been more effective then the shots. my allergies only really kick up on days when theirs lots of pollen in the air "hay fever". then i pop a claritin and i'm usually good.Got Cam Models?

I could never stick myself with a needle, especially over some allergies. But then again, I don't have bad allergies, so I wouldn't know what it's like.Comment

Have you gone the homepathic route yet? I'm allergic to about 9 allergens (out of the 15 or so major ones) and last time i was taking them they seem to have been doing the trick. Zyrtec always made me drowsy.

For years I suffered with the seasonal allergies stuff. As a kid, I was allergic to tons of stuff and did allergy shots twice a week for 5 years. Try living in Texas and being allergic to mesquite!
A few years back, my doc gave me two week trials of the three most popular prescription meds at that time. I took one for 2 weeks then a week off, then the second for two weeks then a week off, and then the third. He told me one would seem better than the other 2. It was the Zyrtec hands down for me.
After two years of taking Zyrtec from February through August, my doc told me to take it all year. I did that for two years, then stopped. I've had no recurrence of problems since.
My dad has had problems for all his life. He takes a prescription med, but vows that adding 1 Chlor-Trimeton every 12 hours makes a huge difference.

Zyrtec D helps me. I never use to have problems but
since Jan of this year something has changed. LOL
Hubby happens to be good friends with the top ENT
in Tampa so I went and paid him a visit. Zyrtec D is
what he gave me and it is time released so it generally
doesn't cause drowsiness. Just a thought.
