because of this little device above, which interestingly enough was NOT USED BY folks like Johnny Carson. The old days were actual laughs but these days its all samples and synthetic applauds or actual crowds being paid to clap.

well before the show they tell everyone that the happiest most socialable people will get picked from the audience.. so your trying to get picked to go on the show so you want to look enthusiastic..
In reality they have a pre-show warmup where everyone walks around a banquet hall socializing , and in the audience is some show reps that walk around and pick people from the pre-show warmup. They usually tell the people before hand that they will be picked or ( might be picked , but to look suprised )hatisblack at yahoo.comComment
