My problem is that I have no knowledge of what is involved in dedicated hosting. So, I don't know what I would need to do on my end that is different than a virtual account.

As it is managed, you will have to do nothing special

For all intents and purposes, it will have the same feel as a virtual for you, only you aren't sharing resources with anyone.
