This may be a stupid question, but how come photographers use zoom lenses to shoot content? Being 2 feet away from her crotch makes her uncomfortable? To avoid getting your body in the way of the the flash?

oh, and 50!
That lense he is using is about the best around. Most photographers like to shoot models at 70mm plus. For one, it doesn't disturb the model and two, he may be trying to get some shallow depth of field.
Dean will probably shoot me down, but I took a stab!

I shoot with zoom lenses because it enables me to shoot full length, 3/4 length and close-ups without having to move more than a few feet in any direction. Trying to get all those different views with a standard 85mm for instance would be a pain in the ass because you would have to backup for the full length shoots and then come way in for the closeups and by the end of the day - you'd be freak'n exhausted from running around so much.
One of my biggest peeves is seeing content shooters who shoot 20 shots from the same position. Then they switch positions and shoot 20 more shots...and then switch again and shoot 20 more shots. Clients hate this stuff. By utilizing a zoom lens, I can get much more variety in the shots without running myself ragged

Hey Cory, your right on with this. The flip side to using longer lenses though is that you can sometimes lose that "connection" with the model. I love my Canon 24-70mm 2.8 because it allows me to be close to the girl, speak softly and stay connected to her in that way. It makes for a more intimate shoot when your not shouting from half-way across the room
