Example: if the US has a choice of producing 1000 items that sell for $2 each as opposed to producing 100 items that sell for $100 each, which should it produce? Well, the same thing's been said since the 1970's when America started turning to imports and moving production offshore. America seems to be richer now more than ever. If anything, our average skills base is more valuable now than before. It is just part of the growth of an economy as it invests in more a capital-intensive economy. I own my own business and I use outsourced labor as well as outsourced technology development to not only cut costs but expand my business. I am in several areas of ecommerce now with minimal labor on my part thanks to these two components. I look at offshore outsourcing as another way of leveraging my capital to get my business further than otherwise. It is like credit. You can always use cash on hand to make x % of your investment or you can use credit as a "bridge" and expand your capacity. That's how I view tools (and that's what outsourcing, credit, and technology are) when formulating strategies to grow my business. American and European consumers will always be here and they will always grow in spending power.Originally posted by tony404
