few years back when i was in oversea, my mum made a long distance call to me. She sounded very excited on the phone and told me that someone sent her email saying she won 30 million worth of lottery. I said it's a scam! She didn't really believe me and told me dad she won that lottery....bla bla....completely ignore me....
my mother hates the internet. she thinks it's evil. my father works on computers daily but they don't have a high speed connection at home or an extra line for DSL, they're on dial-up on an island with two almost no longer teenage boys - i think that's insane.
My parents have a computer i gave them, it's hilarious.. my mother refers to icq as "that fucking message window thingie" and doesnt think theres any sites out there other then ebay.. my dad will get on it and hunt down shit, if he thinks hes found what he's looking for he'll print the site out, then just shut the power off on the computer and go read what he printed. They have a cell phone, they mastered powering it up, as for making a call.. no way. One of these days when im over there im going to txt message it and watch them try to figure out why it's making noises.
My mom is the one who I learned to use computers from. She used to program with punch cards in college. I remember our computer crash and she reprogrammed it in dos.
My dad knows enough for his work, but I don't think he cares to learn anymore. He still runs dos and windows 3.1 on his computer, lol
I was impressed when I received a text message from my mother a few days after she got her first mobile (cell) phone.
My Mother In Law only knows how to answer the phone, or key in digits and make a call. If you try to show her how to use the phone book or change ring tones she gets scared and flustered.
True Story 2: My 96 YO grandma saw on the news that there was a new computer virus and she went over to the computer where my brother was working and started hitting him on the head screaming for him to stop touching the computer or he'd get sick. Poor Grammy. She just doesn't understand.
that is priceless
My bf's parents refer to the entire of the internet as 'the Google'.
