Been there..
Lots of instances where the guy sees the x and... Wow! She be lookin' good!
Then ya talk awhile and things seem way neat.. then it's, "How 'bout we try again in that we seem to be getting along so well... Then it isn't long before you're reminded why you split in the first place...
When you're apart, neither of you can do wrong.. there's no arguing.. no stresses... all the things that pushed you apart are absent from the picture.. so ya think.. "hmmm"... Then ya get back together & wham!
As was mentioned... Move forward, not back..
