Devotion and perseverance have to be the two most important ingredients to the success formula. Those who treat it like a hobby and hope for the quick buck don't generally last.
Being among the first to have something new and unique to offer is good. Hopping on the bandwagon long after it hit the trail ain't the best approach.
Constantly re-invest in your own company. If you're a producer, keep up with the Joneses and upgrade your gear whenever you can. Yesterday's technology will keep you living in the past while competitors and colleagues offer superior product/content.
Marketing....marketing....marketing. There's no such thing as too much marketing and promotion. Spam the shit out of everything at every opportunity.
And whenever possible - pick the brains of your colleagues and competition. Find out what works for others and apply it to your own program. Don't make the mistake of assuming you know it all. You don't. Staying competitive and success is a constantly evolving process of learning.
Follow your instincts and intuition if proven to be reliable. Fuck the naysayers and those who will do everything in their power to discourage your efforts.
