Keep in mind: All these people, if you asked them, would say they are RESPONSIBLE gun owners and bought their gun for self protection. I wonder from all those people actually ever needed them for self protection. The damage those guns did is way more than any burglar wouldve done in that same period.
The problem is not the ownership of guns but the irresponsible owners of guns.

You leave your gun loaded and unlocked so a kid can get his hands on it what do you expect to happen?
