How long until Virginia Tech is sued??

How long until the lawsuits start flying?

Students complained that there were no public-address announcements or other warnings on campus after the first burst of gunfire. They said the first word they received from the university was an e-mail more than two hours into the rampage ? around the time the gunman struck again.

Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said authorities believed that the shooting at the dorm was a domestic dispute and mistakenly thought the gunman had fled the campus.

"We had no reason to suspect any other incident was going to occur," he said

I haven't kept up with this, but were the two separate shootings connected or the same guy? As in he got away then came back.
In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.

I don't think he ever left the campus, just went to another building

I think before anyone slams Virginia Tech, you should wait until all the information is established. No one right now even knows if the first shooting is connected to the second shooting. It is easy to assume that, but it could very well be two seperate incidents.

Who cares if it was connected or not? The school should have been shut down after the first one.

I would expect law suits to be filed this week.

They have not said it was the same gunman. I just saw the news conference on it. They said they do not know if it is the same man. You are all assuming it is the same man without any evidence. The first shooting could very well be domestic like they first thought. They said the first victims were a male and female. All I said was wait and see before making all kinds of assumptions.

"Hindsight is fucking 20/20. You don't shut down an operation the size of a small city for one murder. It doesn't matter if the murderer is missing. A huge percentage of murders are isolated, not parts of sprees. Additionally, every shooting spree that I'm aware of happened all at once, rather than with a 2-3 hour gap in the middle.

There were no reasons to think he might go on a rampage, and plenty of reasons to think that it may have been isolated and worth investigating and dealing with through normal channels.

We're very impressed how much more intelligent you are now than the VT President was at 8am this morning, but the fact that you have knowledge he didn't is making you see things from a different perspective.

I will reiterate, it's not rational to shut down the activities of 30,000 people for a day due to 1 death and 1 injury."

Well say it is a student and he did live in the dorm where the shootings occurced, what would the school being shut down had done? He would have been locked down in the same building he killed people in. It would have made no difference. They claim the only way to get into that dorm is with an electronic key card.

Hindsight is 20/20. When someone gets killed over a domestic spat in your city, do you expect the Emergency Broadcast System to interrupt your Soap Operas to tell you to stay indoors and that all businesses will be shut down for the day?

This wasn't some high school, it was a major university the size of a city.

if the school was selling t-shirts they would use the public address system to spam the whole campus...they coulda done the same thing but either were too stupid or ignorant to do so...

but its not a city, its a college campus... there is a difference

take into consideration the history of school shootings, something more than sending an email should have been done

i seriously don't even understand how you can argue that sending an email about a shooting on a school campus was all that should have been expected

                          ah well

What the FUCK? Why didn't they shut down the campus five minutes after the shooting happened??? They left it open for him to do it again??? Jesus fucking CHRIST that place deserves to be sued into oblivion.

                              Who cares?

The bottom line is that people were shot and the school made no attempts at making sure it didn't happen again.
