Hey Steve,I hope this business model catches on...if a user purchases a clip, but then loses the clip..eg. computer crashes..are they able to download that same clip again without paying?Comment

The oscommerce system allows us to set the maximum number of times a user can download each purchased clip, and the maximum number of days they can take to download it.Abra-cadabra!Comment

Steve, your are right. Sorry about that. I took another look and both sites are quite different.
The other one added more functionalities -custom made it seems-... Anyway, I did follow the progress in the other site which started similar to yours. Not exactly 'pay per scene' but used a credit system that allowed users to choose what they wanted to see and downloaded it. So a similar idea. It is my understanding that after 6 months testing the owner decided to go the way of a regular membership paysite because users weren't actually receiving any benefit. Users felt great that they could pick what to watch -empowering them- and also about the fact that they didn't have to deal with the recurring issue. In fact, more sales were going to the credits than to the membership (she tested the idea side by side). But the main problem was that users would pick content based on a screenshot (or severals) and sometimes would chose videos they didn't like. By the time the downloads started the credits were gone (and misused). In your case, the purchase of a scene. It would feel like $3.99 wasted. Users have one bullet in the barrel... This led to great disappointment as users had to keep buying more credits (or downloading more scenes) till they liked one. On th plus side cost/profit ratios were better.
Anyway, wanted to contribute only. Good luck to you!Comment
