It is - actually Dec 21st 2012 - which is also the end of the I Ching as well as the Aztec and Mayan calenders
Its also the centric date that the earth will travel through the exact center of the Milky Way Galaxies' black hole gravitational field - leading some scientists to predict a huge shift in the earths crust and rotation - leading to destruction of the tectonic plate structure and complete annihilation of all life on earth - this happens every 28,000 years and seems to explain some previously unexplained shifts in the earths structure that geologists had been wrestling with for years - fortunately I'll be dead by then but sure would have been interesting to watch
