Rasta - short for followers of the West Indian religious movement - has lent its name to a third particularly strong variety of cannabis that has been discovered by scientists.
Police and dope smokers know there are two types of the drug - cannabis sativa sativa mainly used to make hemp while the indica subspecies is prized for its tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content which produces the 'high'.
But now Australian researchers have discovered a third type of cannabis called 'rasta', reports New Scientist.
