These things are highly relative. It really depends on what you personally value.

Vancouver's rain gets really tired really fast, despite scenery that makes you weep.

New York is halluciously expensive but puts to shame every other city in North America. New York is New York--to put it on some list with other cities is laughable. It's the greatest city there ever was or will be.

L.A is a great city to live in if you're in Brentwood or Malibu or on some days West Hollywood. The guns blare, the traffic wears, but it's warm in January while the East snow slogs.

As for traffic, every city has bad traffic. L.A's got the award, but surprisingly, there are many cities that would rival L.A. Toronto on a bad day, or even Calgary, is bad.
To me, NYC's traffic just isn't that bad since so many don't drive.

      Different strokes. Try em all.

Ok well the main reason for that is because there are so many damn women. They are everywhere, we have a higher ratio of women then men. Oh and we are known for all the strippers here as well.

I'm proud that I have visited some of the cities in that list. I attest that they are very beautiful.

I like your advice about trying them all and finding what fits you best. I love to travel and see the relative merits of each city as one to live in. I also find it fascinating that most of the survery's done over the past several years all point to Vancouver as tops despite all these other great cities having so much going for them and the lumps and warts people point out about Vancouver.

The World Council of Cities ranked Vancouver second in the world for quality of life.

Outside magazine voted Vancouver one of the ten best cities in the world to live in.

I didn't know that about the ratio of women to men. I got to get out more! BTW, I recognized you from your pic at the Lightspeed party several months ago, and I hardly think you have to worry about there being too much competition out there

Personally, I went to a hospital in Canada after a hiking accident, and I received excellent care. The hospital was modern, clean, and everyone was very attentive. I've heard there's a bit of a waiting list for elective surgery (non-life threatening stuff), but the wait times I read about weren't too bad.
Finally..... nce to see the odd person here who gets it.
