Is It Possible For A Defendent To Reschedule A Court Date With A Valid Reason?

What Happens If You Miss A Small Claims Court Case Cuz U Were In Jail? A friend of mine is in La County Jail for the next several days for some unpaid traffic violations etc. He had a court date in small claims court that was pending before his arrest. He is going to miss the court date because he is locked up. Do you think the court will allow him to re-schedule? He is the one being sued. Does anyone have any knowledge on these matters?

Yeah besides being dead, thats pretty much the most valid reason for not showing up.

If he or his attorney do not show up he will prolly get a default judgement against him...

Now like was said above his attorney can appear on his behalf and get a continuence...

Or he can request to be transported from lockup to court...
