This really doesn't say much. Since 1961 there have been 4 democrats and 5 republicans as president. The democrats have held the whie house for around 20years and repubs have had it for around 27 (or they will at the end of Bush's presidency.) So to say that the republican party is controlling the white house is inaccurate. they had a run recently, things go in cycles, its nothing new and nothing to brag about.
Also, you have to admit. If about 8,000 confused old people don't accidently vote for Buchanon instead of Gore in Florida, we probably don't have Bush in the white house.
