My ex wife lives in the home we owned together when we were married. A month or so ago she decided she'd tear out all the grass in the back yard and replace it with brick (at my expense of course). She just thought she'd water it all down to get it soft and then take her hoe and dig the dirt out. She needed 6 inches of depth to then add sand back in and lay the bricks.
After beginning the job she realized it wasn't going to be as easy as she'd thought. So who does she call to help? Of course!
Do you honestly think I like to do real work? Hell no! Have you seen me in person? I'd rather work my right hand lifting a burger to my mouth or stroking all 5.5 inches God gave me than doing REAL work.
I told her that if I was going to help I'd rent a roto-tiller to make things a bit easier. If you've ever roto-tilled anything you know that it's still not EASY, but it's EASIER than a standard hoe.
Still, I wasn't looking forward to it. And it showed in my voice. But while talking on the phone, my son, who always wants to know who momma's talking to, asked her to pass me a message.
"Daddy, if you help momma I'll give you a quarter!"
He's 5. And that's what she pays him each day to do various chores like feeding the cat or keeping his room clean.
A full day's pay? Of COURSE I'll be there! And so it comes as no surprise that I spent my day roto-tilling. Shovelling dirt into a wheelbarrow, loading it into my truck, and dumping it at my ex-father-in-law's house.
I just couldn't pass up that kind of money!

jk. I hate that kind of work too, god, if only my grass could burn so I don't have to cut it myself
