I've been a working webmaster since 1994 so I'm not sure how much of a 'fad' the Internet is (but I do remember when the mainstream press was still predicting that the web would go the way of the CB radio craze...)

Having said that, there's maybe 50-100 people in this biz (out of maybe 50,000-60,000+ operators of one level or another) that are making the kind of money that most people get into this biz thinking that they'll make...
