    Beware - One or more of these sponsors gives away your e-mail address to spammers

    I am sure that my e-mail address hasn't been published anywhere and the only place I've put it to are sponsor sign up fields:

    Now I'm getting porn related spam to that e-mail, such as e-mails with a subject like "asyd fucked cvbuih Oldman"

    I tried to change my e-mail to a new one in their account settings just to see if that would get spammed as a result and it got too, but so far much less. However because I only changed it with the below sponsors, I can tell that at least one of them is guilty.

    One or more of these sponsors are guilty:

    * Wildcash
    * JuggCash
    * TopBucks

    To the listed sponsors: I'm sorry that I didn't make the effort to further track down the spam causing ones so some sponsors are listed here even if they aren't guilty.

    However other than this I like each of these sponsors.

      I am 100% sure that the spam is because of one or more of those sponsors. If you don't believe me, I don't care and I don't have time to think how I could possibly prove it to you.

      The reason I posted this is that I think sponsors should drop such practices ASAP. I don't give a damn whether you will trust a listed sponsor less after this.

        Should be careful making claims like that without proper evidence. It could be none of those sponsors or only one of them, but you have pulled all three names in.

        Might have been better to contact them first and explain your concern...

        If a sponsor gets smeared a stigma is attached that can b hard to shake!!!!

          The harm has been done already, contacting them wouldn't make it any better. Both of the e-mail addresses are ones I can't stop listening to. Would a sponsor openly admit even privately that it was guilty? Hell no. The one I least suspect is JuggCash because they are very nice guys and their security seems decent.

          There is a good chance that just one of these sponsors has a badly protected e-mail list, which is very irresponsible but much better than giving away.

            If you receive mail via your own server/domain then it should be relatively easy to setup aliases so you have a unique addr for each sponsor. For example:

            [email protected]
            [email protected]
            [email protected]

            (The digits are to make it completely unique and "unguessable")

                True, but I'm still glad to see someone actually calling sponsors out besides kissing ass like so many do.

                I've reported spam to sponsors on so many occasions and literally 90% of the time the claim is ignored and/or I just got more spam. Sponsors have to be held accountable - not all of them are legit, honest business people and we all know it.

                Yet it seems most people just accept the spamming as part of the business and do nothing. And so it continues ...

                Of course I would prefer if one was directly called out with indisputable evidence but at least the intent is there.

                    TeenCat, unless they'd actually be stupid enough to spam me themselves with totally and surely uninteresting crap (to a webmaster), it is highly unlikely that they can remove me from some spamming list after giving my e-mail address away.

                    Kevsh, It is good to know there's someone else than me who isn't kissing ass all the time.

                        GirlsOnYou, I can 100% guarantee that Wildcash DOES NOT give out personal information, EVER!

                        Without the trust of Webmasters our business doesn't work, and to think that we would do this for some small amount of money make no sense at all.

                          Whoopity God damn do.

                          Really, who gives a fuck? Each of those sponsors have 1000's of affiliates, yet you're the only one bitching.

                          You like them, so enjoy the spam. Let them make a couple of each $$$ so they can pay you PPS
