A woman died Thursday night after her car ran off Junior Order Home Road and smashed into a power pole earlier in the day. The accident trapped her in her burning 2005 Ford sport utility vehicle.
Brandy Dayle Koonts, who was airlifted to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after the wreck, was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m. Thursday.
Koonts, 26, of Holloways Church Road, was traveling east on the road around 2:19 p.m. Thursday when the accident happened, but many of the details are not yet known.
"I was looking out the window and I heard a boom and the power lines shook," Joel Lopp said. He still has a burn spot in his yard where the car tipped on its side and burned. "I thought it was a tractor trailer caught on the power lines."
N.C. Highway Patrol troopers can only determine that the contributing circumstance to the accident was driving in a "careless, erratic manner," which is a general term used any time a driver loses control of the car. The speed limit in that section of the road is 55 mph.
Lopp called 911 and bystanders began to gather around the car in an attempt to help her.
"Quite a few people" helped tip the car back onto its wheels, Lopp said, but they could not help Koonts out of the car.
The Linwood Fire Department arrived on the scene first. While volunteers "broke the windows out, we were working on the fire," Capt. Kenneth Everhart said. Koonts was breathing as she was taken from the scene.
But Koonts had burns over 100 percent of her body, Everhart said: "She was burned from head to toe. The car was fully engulfed."
The South Lexington Fire Department also arrived on the scene and used the jaws of life device to free Koonts from the vehicle, Everhart said. Air Care arrived within seven minutes after being called.
This accident is probably the third on that street within a year, Lopp said. "It's a straight stretch so people think they can go 100 miles an hour down the road."Comment

PrivateIvy, I understand your grief and it is very kind of you to help your dear friend's orphaned child. Do your best to ignore and forgive the callous remarks that some have posted. I did not know Julie, but it sounds like she was a good person who was loved by many and will be missed.
I'm sorry for your loss, but respect your strength in finding a way to help your friend's daughter during her time of need. Hopefully with people like yourself providing her with support she will grow up to be strong and proud to know that so many loved her mother.
Julie Robbins, RIP...

God damnit that's harsh. 3 accidents so far this year and they blame the drivers without checking the road? A lot of county owned roads are shit, bumps in them, uneven, not made right. Demand they do a survey on the road, if it's not made right there can be a settlement for Brandies daughter that can give her a normal life. A friend of mine was a mortician in Sacramento and this same kind of thing happened there, after the fifth accident in a year a survey was done, the county was negligent and had made the roads incorrectly.Originally posted by PrivateIvyCopied from the local newspaper...

In one of those inexplicable twists of fate that seem to happen sometimes my memories of Julie were freshened just this past week by finally editing a year old shoot we did with her.
I was once again reminded of this beautiful young woman's immeasurable vitality, sense of humor and professionalism.
Julie Robbins was indeed a class act through and through.
Out of respect for her and her family we will of course postpone the release of this material indefinitely.
RIP Brandy you will be missed by all those who crossed your path.Comment

Sounds like Sacramento. I am above Sacto and my 4 runner flipped twice last month after barely hitting the gravel. I was not speeding and just two weeks ago another car flipped in the same spot. Some one had told me recently this happens on country roads cause they are not made correct.Originally posted by SquirtitGod damnit that's harsh. 3 accidents so far this year and they blame the drivers without checking the road? The family think it may have been caused by some medication she was recently prescribed that caused drowsiness.
Regardless of the cause, she was an absolute sweetheart to anyone who ever came into contact to her, she'll be deeply missedComment

So sorry for your loss, Ivy. You did a great job with the site, but it is bizarre looking at it now knowing that it could continue to get new sign-ups for years without surfers having a clue that the model has passed away. From a surfer standpoint, it's no different than the many models that quit their sites to do something else, but such a surreal way to leave a "legacy".
I wonder if webmasters will start writing domain instructions into their wills? No one but me knows my registrar passwords, so my domains would just sit there until they expired.

I am actually working with her family now and deciding what is best( her site, etc. ) ...most likely will set up a trust fund for her daughter this week, if that is what they wish.
Thanks

The email address for payments via Paypal is [email protected]
Thanks for any help any of you can give in also spreading this to others you know who may have worked with her. I know her family is grateful for any help, regardless of the size.
