This is caused by a couple possible problems:
1. The affiliate code is passed during the load of the sponsor page, but the sponsor's page template cancels out the legitimate affiliate number or adds a different one when the surfer moves into the tour from the template.
2. The join page script cancels the legitimate referal number or sets a new affiliate number.
If the number is cancelled, someone probably doesn't know what they are doing. At least that is a good excuse.
If a different affiliate number is written, it is either a cut and paste error or intentional.
If it is a signup page that is doing this, I think that is pretty obvious.
Also, it doesn't matter if you are feeding the site through contributor, blogroll links, or coding the pages... the root cause is bad handling on the sponsor end - one way or another.
Why post without sponsor names? Because if you are a professional, you should be looking after your business and make decisions based on facts and observations.
I found these same RSS problems with three sponsors yesterday - I sent emails to the sponsors and got no reply. I dropped them - Fuck them... I don't need to use them.
