Or could it be that without evil, good would be a meaningless concept? Similarly if there is a reward for being good, it isn't unreasonable for there to be a punishment for being bad.
No comment on the validity or otherwise of anyone's beliefs... I just find it easier to understand someone believing in heaven
and hell, than in heaven alone.
