I've met Kevin and he sure appears to be doing just fine. I know he and Webfather were working together at the time I met him so I would imagine he is everything he has always said he is.
Some people have a lot of time on their hands and enjoy little distractions like doodling with graphics. He doesn't have to be good nor does it appear that he's "in it to win it."
Keep in mind that Sam Walton drove around in a beat up pick up truck until the day he died -- and he had a little bit of money set aside and relatively decent cash-flow
he also performed many acts of random kindness and was not afraid to get down and do back-breaking work or get his hands dirty.
I swear -- there's some kind of mentality on message boards that says you have to have the biggest...best...most of whatever. Some people are perfectly content going through life having the biggest bank account or investment portfolios and little else. I tend to just ignore anything anyone posts about their income. Whether it is true or not, I don't really care. I've always tended to believe that the guys who are wealthy don't need to say they are, people just know. How many times has Lightspeed come into a thread to talk shit about how much money he makes? Never.
As for the design contest, some people just like competition. How many wealthy guys participate in fantasy football leagues for a few bucks? How many wealthy guys will play in a local poker game for quarters? Some people just like competition and money isn't that big of a factor.
As for the money, $600 isn't chump change to anyone. Millionaire or not, if it takes you 20 minutes to make $600 on a contest, why not?Comment
