                                  Somebody needs to develop an open sponsor system that gives webmasters complete access to their traffic logs and statistics. I track my hits like crazy, and even use sponsor campaigns and exits to try and figure out what really made it through, but my numbers going in NEVER match the numbers they say I sent.

                                  Just become a sponsor, and you don't have this problem anymore... ;)

                                                          There may not be alot intentionally hiding sales or shaving hits, but every sponsor gets sales from returning typeins after the cookies have expired or from new computers, errors in tours, hosted galleries, 404 pages, etc... I've done work for some programs that generate a decent amount of non-affiliate sales even though they don't do any of their own promotion and rely 100% on affiliates. It takes a hell of a lot of QA to ensure that 100% of affiliate sales are credited properly, and even then you'll lose a lot of surfers once they go home and typein the domain from a new computer.
