They are the best dogs around, and I have had several other large and medium breeds.
They love to cuddle and sleep with you. Love kids and people too.
You should be aware that they do shed. I mean a lot. You would think they would be bald with how much they shed. That is the only negative that I have found. They are not yappers at all, just when the doorbell rings or the phone rings.
OMG girl, we have got to GANG BANG Halcyon into submission for you!!! Pugs are the yummiest little hairy angels on earth. Everyone knows just how crazy I am about my little MAN! I'm surprised that 5 minutes with Remington over in San Diego wasn't enough to convert the Hal-man into a pug-lover!!! Here he is modeling some Harley Davidson gear:
Best of luck!
xoxo

I should have gotten some pics of what happens when their eyes are bigger than their stomachs
Hal. I have learned one thing, that is very important. Keep her happy! And if that means hacing a little dog around, then so be it. I have 2 dogs, and a parrot. The dogs I love, and enjoy the time playing with them, and wresteling with them. The parrot. I dont really like her, and the only reason that she has not become a chicken mc nuget, is because she is my wifes baby.

Sorry, but I have to disagree here. I did that with my first ex-wife. Really dumb idea. When she insisted on allowing the cat or it would be a deal breaker, I should have taken that as a hint.
I rebooted, deleted temp files, history, cookies and everything...still cannot view the news clip. All I see is that fucking gay ass music video from "Rick Roll". Anyone else have a different link to the news clip?
Pugs are healthy and friendly. As good as any dog there is under any circumstance except one, not enough time. They want a lot of attention. You don't have to pet them constantly but they want to be with you. If you arent home a lot or if you plan on sticking him in a pen instead of lettign him watch TV with you then you dont want a pug.

I love dogs -- I've got two of them -- nothing against Peaches babies or Cory's spoiled little man -- but I'd think hard about getting a pug. A friend of mine has one that loves nothing more than to shit in the house, no matter what they do to try and train it and no matter how many times they talk it out to walk. They have to make it sleep in the kennel at night and leave it in there while they are gone, otherwise 5 minutes or 5 hours away from home and the dog takes a shit anywhere sneaky it can find.
Dogs are good.
Just think long and hard about the dog you get and the kind of maintenance it takes to make it a lovable house dog. My italian greyhound was a pain in the ass for nearly a year, getting her to understand her ass was not too good for the grass. She had no problem peeing outside but her love of pooping on the carpet nearly drove me crazy. I finally put in a dog door and haven't had any issues since then with her at all.
I'm neither + or -
I'll be a very Zen 0
But I will say that you guys do travel a lot and having a dog will cramp your style a bit, so you should consider that when you make the decision.

Can't go wrong with a pug.
yay for pugs! do you use a shedding comb on your pug?
Everyone I have heard from that has a pug says they are the closest thing to a human you will get from a dog. I hear they are great dogs. I had a friend that had one named Boogie! He was so cute. He would stand on his back legs and hop around squirming, like he was boogying down! I loved that little dog and I am not a little dog person!
I vote yes!
I bet anyone here once they get that dog, Halcyon will grow so attached it him or her that it will become his dog. It always seems to happen that way! Most people I have met that aren't dog people have this weird connection with dogs once they open their heart to them.
Plus pugs are little so you could take him every where with you. They can fly on planes easy, and you can get cute little pink carry on bags. Oh and pink collars and booty's for his or hers paws. Little skirts and shorts in pink. OMG I am just getting so carried away now. LOL Get the doggy! You won't regret it! He or she will become a little mascot for you at shows. Great advertising attention as well. I think it is a great addition to the Pink Clan! And an all black one would make the pink stand out a lot more on him or her. Okay that is it I will stop. I could write all day on why it would be a great idea for you to get the puppy! LOL
KC was never much of a dog person until I brought this little guy home. Now he takes the dog everywhere, lets him sleep under the covers and holds him on his lap when he's working. I will wake up in the morning and he has stayed up late teaching the dog tricks.
Lefty and I say ......... C'mon Hal, get a doggie! and seriously, if I had a girlfriend as cool as tassy I would get her a goddamn giraffe if she wanted one!

I used to work in the grooming department at my store the best thing to use is a good medicated and conditioner bath you gotta let them soak in it for like 15 mins then dry them really well and use a rubber brush like a zoom groom it'll get most the hair out
The traveling thing is a major point. We can easily take the bird with us places, but the dogs are a lot harder. Especially because one weight over 100 pounds, and the other is about 50.
Pugs are great, but I would definitely recommend rescuing a dog first & foremost. My pug is always the hit of the dog park, loves everybody & will run right up to people & try to give them kisses. I've never had a dog with such a friendly personality.
Negatives:
They snot & snort & will cover ever glass surface (car windows, TV screens) with a fine mist. When I adopted my pug, he already had a name but we called him "Piggy" so much it just stuck. lol
Grooming - they do shed a lot, so carpet isn't a great idea. Hardwood floors that you can use a Swiffer on are great, leather couches too.
Smell - a few people mentioned that pugs smell, but this is just a grooming thing. You need to keep the folds of their face clean or it can get infected & for some reason, I have to periodically use tissue on my dog's butt. This isn't exclusive to pugs though. Ever see a dog dragging its ass across the carpet? Much better to just grab their tail & do a quick wipe with some toilet paper.
I took mine to Cali & had a blast just watching him playing with the waves. He'd never seen the ocean before so would get really close to the water, then a wave would come in & he'd run away as fast as he could. So cute!

ooh, perhaps i should have aimed higher...a giraffe would be interesting, though difficult to fit in this condo.

thanks for your input kimmykim! i have always had a dog, though i've never had a small one, i picked the pug of all the small breed dogs based on personlity and honestly their idiotic clownlike behaviour reminds me of myself. how's that for narcissistic?! it's going to be a bit before we really get a dog, i'm sure - i don't foresee any time in our travel schedules for awhile that allows us enough time to get a new dog used to us/our place before we'd have to jet off again.
somehow i don't picture you as an italian greyhound mom, but they just seem so fragile to me, you don't strike me as fragile. :P
All those pugs are gorgeous. I was going to suggest that Leslie post her's. Remy is such a cutie in that tux!
My friend has a pug and PollyAnna is mental. She is mega hyper and breaths crazy when she's excited, very neurotic. She doesnt' smell that I've noticed. She's very needy and with you two always going away you will have to either take her with you or put her in a kennel which is awful for any dog, not just a pug IMO. They are high maintenece that's for sure!
Here is my Shih Tsu, her name is Precious!! She's spoiled as all get out!

Small dogs aren't really dogs. They're actually really ugly cats with a snout that don't shut up. I'd rather have a cat, thats saying a lot because I'm not fond of cats at all. There's nothing better than a real dog like a lab or a good mut. Love those guys, great companions.
Good luck on your crusade for the pug tASSy, but I'm afraid I have to side with the man on this one! ;-)

hehe and you're even close enough for me to drop off the poop i have for you! i'm allergic to cats for the most part, and a big dog in our condo just isn't doable. i used to have big dogs only:
I say you should get a Teacup Poodle then you can have her done pink!
haha, a friend of ours told me to try with the poodle first for the same reason - luckily neither Halcyon nor myself find dog-dying to be very cool. you know they're breeding dogs smaller and smaller nowadays, so much so that many of them can't even procreate - they're too small to carry a litter to term.
