6 times?..... wow
That sounds more than bad luck..... what is the underlying problem?

A long time ago, back when I was 15 (1975), I had double pneumonia of the lungs and bronchi. The antibiotics they gave me were so strong, and in such massive doses that one of the side effects was that they actually started dissolving a few vertebra in my lower spine. The medications took about 3 months to cure the pneumonia, and it took about 5 years to cure up fully from the medications.

Due to other medical problems any respiratory infections really nail me. I thought I was getting sick again last week but I took proper care of myself and killed it. I haven't been sick in about 10 years.

Dont panic - If you are on ABs I assume you have seen the Doc - If he thought you needed it you would be in hospital.
You have to remember that Pneumonia is a symptom not a disease. If you have been sent home then I would guess that 4-5 days and you will be back on your feet. Dont stop taking them though just because you feel better.
Basically, it can cause scarring in the lower lungs. Once that happens, you will get infections all year round.
Yep, I have scars.
My worst time I was out of school for probably 3 months and it took about 6 months to feel decent again. This was really bad though. Mandy don't scare yourself, just take proper care of yourself and do everything the doctor says.

My mum has similar problems with her chest - if she gets just a mild cold we have to prepare for her to be in hospital.
make sure you take some probiotics too
the antibiotics will wipe out all your good bacteria which can create a whole nother host of problems
like yeast infections and crap like that
you can either go to a health food store and ask them for probiotics or go to the grocery store and get some different yogurts or yogurt drinks
something like acidopholis in pills, drinks, etc..
that will also help increase your white blood cell count which will help your body heal

CF?
Nah I have muscular dystrophy. The minute I start getting sick I usually just kick in to "precaution mode" and 90% of the time it works.
Tons of water, nutrition rich foods, some special physical therapy, plenty of rest, and a positive attitude. I've found that staying positive has quite an impact.

Yep!!
PA (Positive Attitude) is the best medicine.
Story time - "Once upon a time I was a nurse, me and a good friend who was my boss did some research into the theory 'laughter is the best medicine', and we found it to be totally true. We used to piss around and even take the piss out of clients when appropiate. We could halve the painkillers we gave them with 10 mins of comedy."
