Supposedly the body armor is so good it preserves their torso, but their arms and legs aren't protected. So now they have to spend the rest of their lives as a torso with a head. Is this true?
Is it true there are a lot of US soldiers with no arms and legs from Iraq?

Yes its true. We have a friend in a M.A.S.H. unit. You will soon see lots of "kids" with limbs missing around. In general they get a 6 month stay at the VA in Bethesda before they are being released. What do you think "wounded" stands for eh?. They don't send "wounded" soldiers home unless its really serious.Originally posted by Shaddam IVSupposedly the body armor is so good it preserves their torso, but their arms and legs aren't protected. Yah, serious injuries are very common and the body armor is so good that where before your insides would have been blown to bits its now mostly the extremeties.-uno

After the war they will have to come to terms with living a handicapped life. I pity those soldiers.Comment

Of course these are hidden from the media just like the dead soldiers only coming in under the cover of night so Bush has a clean look to his war

17,500 innocent civilians in the USA are killed by drunk drivers every year. Which x-files conspiracy is covering that up, i don't see it on the media every night and its 30x more deaths per year than the iraq war.Originally posted by xclusiveOf course these are hidden from the media just like the dead soldiers only coming in under the cover of night so Bush has a clean look to his war

yes, unfortunately. that is one aspect of the war that really doesn't make the news. you hear about the victories, the operations, the dead, and the propaghanda, but you rarely hear about the severely injured.
the figures of crippled soldiers are very high. many of these poor souls will be spending the rest of their lives as para and quadrapalegics.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.Comment

They lost their limbs to protect freedom back home, and they probably think it's worth it! Fight the terrorists in Iraq before we have to fight WW3 on the streets of America. It was only a matter of time before Saddam's army invaded us.Comment

Yes it is true. My husband was in the Army and he got out luckily with no injuries. There were a few guys in his unit that died, a few that lost limbs, and some that will have emotional/psychological damage as well as a plethora of other injuries not named.
Whatever your views are about this war, support our guys over there. They didn't choose to go to war, they are just doing their jobs. A lot of the soldiers that I knew didn't agree with it, but went because someone had to. If it weren't for them, there would be a draft, if they dodged and didn't go.
And NO ONE wants that. Bush wouldn't hesitate to try and get the draft going in my opinion, either. Bless our soldiers!Comment

The added bonus is they get to come home to a V.A. that gets its budget cut on a regular basis.Comment

About 14,500 US soldiers have been wounded so far.
About 6,500 returned to duty after they were healed up.
About 1,900 have been killed so far.

Interesting point of view. I think if "Saddam's army" would have tried to invade the US, the war would not have lasted very long. It's much easier to fight soldiers than to fight terrorist who do not differ from civilians (in their appearance).Originally posted by Matt 26zThey lost their limbs to protect freedom back home, and they probably think it's worth it! Actually 3 years ago, George Bush, Dick Cheney, et al told us that there was an iniment threat from Saddam, who was planning on taking several tons of his stockpiles of nuclear weapons, loading them onto his unmanned drones, flying them accross the ocean and dropping them all over America, leaving mushroom clouds in their wake.Originally posted by Paolo PinkasInteresting point of view. It's sure glad we have such brilliant leaders who were able to stop him before he was able to impliment his diabolical plot
