I used to work in a detox unit. My first nite on the job I had to call for an ambulance for a guy in DT;s Well the first thing to show up was a ladder truck full of firemen. Then a couple of smaller fire trucks. Last thing to get there was a fucking ambulance lmao And all the firemen had their full gear on. My boss was walking to his car going home and looked across the street at me, grinned, shook his head and drove off. I told the firemen all I asked for was an ambulance. They never did explain the need for the ladder truck and shit lmao Who knows why they do what they do sometimesOriginally posted by spooky181Why does the fire brigade attend and not the ambos??

At least the firemen did more than his friends. His friends biggest concern seemed to be dangling what was left of his foot in the breeze while getting it all on film.Originally posted by spooky181Why does the fire brigade attend and not the ambos??

Because in the U.S. the fire department are the first responders. Most cities do not run their own ambulances, they are private companies. So when a call comes in, the closest unit is dispatched to the call as well as a private ambulance.Originally posted by spooky181Why does the fire brigade attend and not the ambos??Comment

Did you call 911 or the ambulance company? If you called 911, then your story sounds like what should have happened.Originally posted by bjjbI used to work in a detox unit. A ladder truck was sent because it was the closest unit to you. If you are in Los Angeles, the ladder truck would have another fire engine with it called a "pump" which would explain having more than one unit there. They could have been wearing all of their gear for a couple of reasons. They could have just cleared a call, and still had their gear on. If it was night time, they would most likely have been wearing their turn out pants.Comment

as a sportbiker myself i had to see the vid.
this doesn't make bike riding dangerous per se, but the laws of stupidity and physics are immutable.
do stupid things without adequate protection and you will get hurt. just shows the power of the human ego. i've known plenty of amateur "stunt" riders, budget "road racers", "wheelie" kings, etc in my riding days. used to hotdog with them years ago on route 35 from crystal springs reservoir to santa cruz. and i am the only one left riding now, i could wheelie, but didn't like the abuse it put on the steering head bearings, i was too fussy about my guzzi lemans.
hint: if you are buying a high-perf sportbike buy it new, because invariably used ones will have been thrashed by fools.Comment

ouch... it happends... and no gear can really stop a break... I ride stunts like that.. first thing wrong was doing high chair and 50/50 with no hand brake... no covering your rear brake is the worst thing.. I used to never cover mine.. I would ride free way wheelies for miles on end with my right foot(brake foot) on the back seat cause it ws more comfy.. but once I learned the back brake I never tak my foot off.. I have a handbrake also so when I do take my foot off I cover my handbrake with my left hand... 1 finger on the clutch and 2 on the brake then my pinky on the grip... it works the best for me.... to show you that if you cover your rear brake you can never flip a bike... here enjoy... http://www.desertvideo.com/videos/park.wmv this is me parking my bike.... but I feel bad for the kid... no matter how stupid you are with stunts you never want to see that happen... and that can happen on a harley or any type of cruiser as well... my buddy lost his leg on a cruiser... so all bikes are dangerous not just sport bikes.... when your on 2 wheels I could care less if it's cruiser or sport your still brave in my bookComment
