I use to hate really fast metal bands, mainly because, IMHO, it is really hard to write melodic stuff when you are playing at that speed. But I have to say that I LOVE System of a Down. I never though it would be possible for a band to have a mix of modern heavy metal and classical music and make it work (e.g., as in the song 'question'). This band makes it work. I love the way the vocalist sings scales over the muted guitar riffs. He sounds like he has had some training in opera. Sabbath did a nice mix of heavy rock mix with a classical element in the Dio years (Heaven and Hell).

when i first saw them in los angeles before ther were signed, i thought theyre going to be a big band or never have a chance because they were different.
im glad thay made it and im also glad i had the chance to open for them back in those days. i can never say enough good shit about them because they help other bands they like..

Daron Malakian? Yep, hes a guitarist. He didnt sing that much in previous albums, but in Mezmerize you hear just as much of his vocals as Serge's. Finally, "Lost In Hollywood" is the whole his song.Originally posted by POed-poster
