i don't work for godaddy but do use them and have a suggestion that might be right for some.
if you can get the number needed to transfer you can transfer to godaddy for 6.95 with 1 year extension.
If you cannot get number to transfer then as a last resort you can go to godaddy and place a backorder on that domain and when it expires the godaddy system with register it for you... last I looked the fee was about seventeen bucks.
Jace, not sure Icann or anyone else can do anything for you, short of lawsuit, at least until registerfly goes under.
