    Traci Lords

I just finished "Underneath It All" by Traci Lords and I"m a slight bit confused.

It seems to me that she was the only one who broke the law here yet she's the only one who didn't go to jail.

Traci Lords got a valid California DL by using somoene else's birth certificate. Her book never mentions her getting jail time or even fined for this.

Seems to me like other people did go to jail because they used her as a model - even though they had government issued ID saying she was of legal age.

Am I the only one who thinks this is unfair?

      "I swear officer...she said she was 19"

It is fucked up. I studied law in college and was this . . close to going to law school but i don't have an answer for you.

From what I understand Traci portrayed herself as the victim and put some major spin on her story. The government wanted to find a way to fight the fledging porn industry and they found her poster girl.

dude come on... you cant be serious. Are you telling me you cant tell a fake id apart from a real one? And even so, you think that being only 15, that she didn't talk to anyone about it..how cool it is/was. People got into trouble because they helped her to become the most popular porno star around and most likely when they were questioned they spilled the beans. She was dateing another actor for god's sake, (tom byron? I forget now).

Anyway, Traci pwned the entire industry then turned around and made even more money then she or anyone else ever did. Then she vanshied out of sight only to return to do some really bad b rate movies and tv shoes.

Are you trying to seduce me?

It was a valid ID issued to her with her picture and someone elses name. My friends used to pull this scam in Rhode Island as recent as 5 years ago before they went to digital ID's.

Yea, this was 1985 or so right? What I am saying is that "you' know what's going on, and if you don't, you would have by about her 2nd movie I would imagine. There is no way, I dont care how "so-fist-ta-cated" she seems, you can tell when your talking to a little girl! come on!

It wasn't a fake ID; It was issued by the DMV in California.

And no where in the book does it state that she told anyone her real age.

Dude....Traci Lords did not look like a little girl....and someone who goes through the extent of providing multiple fake ID's sure doesn't act like a little girl either.

I think no one went to jail because of her. They lost a shit load of money but they decided not to arrest no one because of tracy.I read about it in The Other Hollywood: The Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry

They turned the book into a 10 episode documentary on Court TV

Well in that case...jeez. Come on ROC you know better than this. Her bf was a major star as well, not to mention he wasn't a newcomer in the biz at time either. Are you telling me that you can't tell the diff. between a 15 year old girl in person and what it says on an ID?

People do not always put 'it' in books!

If she had a valid drivers license why should anyone go to jail for shooting her? That doesnt make any sense.

Ummm, 'cept since she was underage at the time the crime was committed, she wouldn't go to jail anyways...
the people 'exploiting' her would.. although, it seems unfair that they would too, since she was faking her ID...

should be no jail for anyone..
