After some sleep I reread your blog and this thread again. My motivation as you asked was simple. You mentioned up front the Cuban people were stupid and having family jailed or assassinated for not joining the revolution was what set me off.
I appreciate your courage in visiting 3rd world civilizations, but have a problem with your ability to differentiate the people from the governments that control them. The elders have little or no choice but to comply with the way of life. The youth; (48 years or younger) cannot comprehend what freedom is, for they have never seen it.
I wish I could go there and hug family I only know from letters and Kodak pictures, but coming from a political family I cannot.
