    Anyone else prefers a regular monitor of a flat one?

    Somehow I prefer a regular (big old ones) monitor over a flat (tft) one because the quality is simply better. Anyone know a flat monitor with the quality of a regular one?

          well to be honest I prefer my flat screen any day over the oldskool monitors.... I got used to it, colors are a bit different but that's pretty much it imho

              regular monitors are cheaper than those flat ones and its quite expensive and yet the colors are not that good so for me i'll stick up with the regular one's...

                          I prefer a CRT for alot of reasons, the color is richer, etc etc... I hate dead pixels.

                              Either my traditional monitor is a piece of shit, or you guys are talking out of your asses.
                              Quality better? On my tft all graphics look sharper and I can see 'errors' that I'd miss on my normal monitor.
                              ..and I'm off.

                                      Oh, and both of my monitors are a few years old Samsungs. So about the same age, and same quality.. and if I had to choose one, I'd take theflatscreen in a heartbeat.

                                                              A couple of years ago I had the occassion to write some software for home embroidery enthusiasts that matches embroidery thread by color using RGB values. I developed it on my CRT monitor. As it got out into the field I started getting calls about the colors not being displayed correctly and it turned out that people who were using flat screen monitors and laptops were having problems differentiating certain shades of colors. After seeing that, I'd never go to a flat screen LCD monitor.

                                                                  NEC LCD1765 is the closest thing to CRT that you can get. It has a glossy sheet of plastic on it and makes the surface shine like glassso colors come out allot like CRT and movies look amazing on it. Only problem is the max size is only 17" and has glare when sun is shinnying into it. I would say this is the best monitor to get if you like the colors of CRT glass screen and work in a dark room

                                                                          Yeah these guys are all high. I've got a 21" Sony (had two over the last 4-5 years) that I gave to the coder here.. i use a 19" 8ms Benq and will probably be getting a 24" Dell very soon. I fucking love the vibrant LCD colours.. so crisp and clear.

                                                                                          i'm sticking with CRT for the moment, LCD has many pro's but still has its flaws, biggest flaw holding me back is native resolution, which so far doesnt' get past 1280x1024 on mainstream 17/19" products, sure you can use other res's but they do look inferior in quality. When 1600x1200 19"s start appearing @ a descent price (other shitty thing bout lcd) i'll be buyin then. If space isn't an issue then i see no point paying more money for a monitor thats less capable.

                                                                                              I bought a new LCD last year, the same time my mom got a new system with a 21 inch CRT. After two months, I swapped out with her. Not only did the colors not look as good, but the LCD hurt my eyes. By the end of the evening, I would literally have to quit looking at it and close my eyes because they were so tired and burning.

                                                                                                  I can't believe they never made a flat glass monitor haha. Or at least a bit thinner. But from the posts here I understand that I'm not the only who prefers regular monitors over a flat one.

                                                                                                                  CRTs are still way better quality, but I love my dual flat panels. I wouldn't go back. The space savings etc are worth the sacrifice.

I still love my Dell Trinitron The NEC MultiSync LCD1765 is the closest thing to CRT, too bad they don't make 19' or even 21' else I would be in heaven

                                                                                                                                          dell trinitron here, 19 '', runs on 100 HZ, doesnt hurt eyes. Agree most people havent used quality CRTs, they have used those 17 " 75 hz cheap ass monitors.

It's great for watching movies but the work area is a bit smart. If you don't mind a monitor hogging desk space, I would still perfer a big CRT. I don't get headaches like some people get. I read that ViewSonic G220fb 21-inch is pretty good

                                                                                                                                                      I've got a big desk with two computers on it, one has a 19" ViewSonic CRT and the other one a 17" TFT.. I always end up working on the CRT. colors are just better, and since I spend most of my time working with graphics, CRT is simply better. I would probably use the TFT more if I was just updating some site texts/links, coding etc..

                                                                                                                                                              I agree, put a quality CRT besides a LCD for around the same price and the CRT wins hands down in picture quality. Images and Video stand out much more in CRT.

                                                                                                                                                                  I have an old quality 21 inch CRT monitor that I bought about 5-6 years ago.. weighs about 100 lbs but I wouldn't trade it for anything I have seen yet. Best $1200 bucks I've ever spent.

I find they're a lot easier on the eyes than my old 21" Square CRTs. Wouldn't trade back for the World.
