Important Changes to Daylight Savings Time
So I got this email the other day and thought I'd share.
Quote:
As you may know the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the U.S. Congress July, 2005, extended Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the U.S. by approximately four weeks. As a result, beginning in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007, resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously observed.
As a result many computer systems require patching or updates of some kind in order to reflect this change. Since most of you use Microsoft Windows I am including a link http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst to the Microsoft website that will guide you through updating your computer. If you use Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, or Vista you only require a simple patch to complete this. If you run an earlier version of the Windows operating system Microsoft is not releasing an update to correct DST. Also if you use Microsoft Outlook there is an additional tool that must be run in order to reset your appointments in the extended Daylight Savings Time period.
If you use another calendaring program or use a PDA these also require updates in order to function correctly during the extended Daylight Savings Time period. I suggest you visit the website for the manufacturer and look for updates for you particular device or program.
